Jack Scott's Writer/Artist Showcase
PO Box 1346
Hendersonville, TN

Although there are occasional cancellations for various reasons, the shows are generally scheduled 6 - 8 weeks in advance. There is an "open mic" segment beginning around 10:30 each Thursday. You must sign up in person by 9:30 PM the night of the show to be eligible to perform. Anyone who signs up but then leaves for an extended period of time will need to sign up again upon their return. If their return is after 9:30 PM, they may risk their eligibility to perform on that evening. Each writer will perform 2 songs. This performance can serve as an audition in consideration for a scheduled performance slot in the future. If you are unable to perform on a Thursday "open mic" segment, you may bring a CD/press kit to the French Quarter during normal business hours. If you need to bring it at a time other than Tuesday or Thursday evening, simply put "Attn: Jack Scott" on your package and leave it with a French Quarter employee.

I schedule for basically 3 different performance formats:

1) 3 person writers rounds where I'll usually ask one writer to invite the other 2 writers to join him/her for a round in which each will perform 3 songs (3 writers total for 3 songs each). In my effort to balance scheduling with generating business for the club, my hope is that the scheduled round will be assembled enough in advance to allow each round member time to promote it to their friends and fans. If each of the 3 writers, for instance, is able to bring 3 or 4 friends, we end up with 10 or 12 people coming into the club. This is the advantage of scheduling someone to set up a round who may not yet have established, individually, a large following.

2) Acoustic solo spots (usually 5 songs) where a writer may bring accompaniment as long as the instrumentation can be set up within a matter of 2 or 3 minutes. Ideally, those scheduled for this format will be able to bring in 10 to 20 persons for this type of performance.

3) Full band shows (usually 7 songs) which will (ideally) bring in 20 - 50 friends and fans for their performance.

I am not unwavering in my adherence to the aforementioned details, but it is very important that I schedule persons in a manner which will be most advantageous not only for the artist but for the club as well. Please consider this and let me know how we can best help each other.
