The Tuesday and Thursday shows are
generally scheduled 4 - 8 weeks in advance. If you wish to perform, the
best approach is to send a
Myspace friend request or an
email link to your online press kit where we can listen to you and
your songs. You may instead bring a
CD/press kit to Dougie Ray's during normal business hours. If you
need to bring it at a time other than Tuesday or Thursday evening,
simply put "Attn: Jack Scott" on your package and leave it with
a Dougie Ray's employee.
Scheduling is basically
for 3 different
performance formats:
1) 3 person writers rounds where (usually) one writer is asked to invite the
other 2 writers to join him/her for a round in which each will perform 3
songs (3 writers total for 3 songs each). In an effort to balance
scheduling with generating business for the club, the hope is that the
scheduled round will be assembled enough in advance to allow each round
member time to promote it to their friends and fans. If each of the 3
writers, for instance, is able to bring 3 or 4 friends, we end up with 10
or 12 people coming into the club. This is the advantage of scheduling
someone to set up a round who may not yet have established, individually,
a large following.
2) Acoustic solo spots (usually 5 songs) where a writer may bring
accompaniment as long as the instrumentation can be set up within a matter
of 2 or 3 minutes. Ideally, those scheduled for this format will be able
to bring in 10 to 20 persons for this type of performance.
3) Full band shows (usually 6-10 songs) which will (ideally) bring in 20 - 50
friends and fans for their performance.
Adherence to the aforementioned details is not "unwavering", but it
is very important that these shows are scheduled in a manner which will be most
advantageous not only for the artist but for the club as well. Please
consider this and let me know how we can best help each other.
